Montana Department of Commerce Praises Billings for Downtown Revitalization Success

Downtown Billings earned high praise from the Montana Department of Commerce for exceptional revitalization efforts.

Members of the Montana Department of Commerce, including Micky Zurcher and Jacob Cote, conducted a site visit on August 11 to assess Downtown Billings’ progress in preservation-based economic development. Their report highlights Billings as a thriving community with strong ties among developers, entrepreneurs, and property owners.

During the visit, the team toured downtown businesses, interviewed staff and board chairs, and reviewed the ongoing revitalization work. Zurcher’s report commends the Downtown Billings team as trusted partners and champions of local economic growth. This visit follows one made ten months earlier and reflects sustained momentum in preserving and restoring Billings’ historic district.

Looking ahead, Billings is set to host the national Main Street America Coordinators conference in October 2025, an event Zurcher helped secure.
