Montana Brewing Industry Boosts State Economy by $574 Million
Montana’s brewing industry generated $574 million for the state economy in 2025.
The Montana Brewers Association reported this economic impact, underscoring the sector’s significance beyond beer production. This figure reflects the integrated role of breweries, distributors, and agricultural suppliers across the state.
Ninety-four breweries operate in Montana, producing 217,000 barrels of beer annually, equivalent to more than 53 million pints. About 10 breweries are located in Bozeman, with MAP Brewing serving as a community hub. The annual Spring Rendezvous beer festival features 18 breweries and will take place this Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds. Matt Leow, executive director of the Montana Brewers Association, emphasized the breadth of the industry’s economic impact, while Loy Maierhauser, COO of MAP Brewing, highlighted breweries as community strongholds.
The Spring Rendezvous beer festival offers a timely opportunity to engage with Montana’s brewing community and appreciate its local economic footprint.
Given Montana’s dispersed population and rural character, the brewing industry’s role as both an economic driver and community center might influence local business networks and agricultural supply chains statewide. This integration could encourage further regional collaboration and support for small-town economies.
