Missoula’s upstart Mobile Crisis Team jumps into action with positive results

Since Monday’s debut of a program designed to help with 911 calls regarding behavioral health issues, it has already saved the Missoula Police Department seven to eight hours of work, as well as saving local hospitals from potential patients.

Assistant Fire Chief Brad Davis said it has been a “monumental moment” in a program that the Missoula Fire Department had roughly two months to organize.

Missoula mobile crisis unit nets startup funding; attention now shifts to outcomes

The city of Missoula initially sought to fund one mobile crisis unit for four months before bringing a second unit online to close out the 10-month trial program. A budget boost will fund two units from the start, and partners will be looking for outcomes.
