The Missoula County commissioners are now accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Elections Advisory Committee. Open positions include:
- ·one at-large regular member to serve the remainder of a term through Jan. 31, 2027
- a student member term running through Aug. 31, 2027
- ·one vacant alternate member position with a term running through Jan. 31, 2026
Applications are available online. The application deadline is 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The EAC consists of up to nine members who study the efficiency of the elections process, advocating for fair, robust and trustworthy elections. The EAC’s objectives include listening to stakeholders, conducting sound research and learning best practices, and offering thoughtful advice and recommendations to the commissioners, with the goal of increasing public participation in the electoral process.
Commissioners appoint seven citizen members, one student member, one member representing people with disabilities, and three alternates. One county commissioner also serves as an ex-officio member. Meetings are held quarterly from 3 to 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month in January, April, July and October. Additional meetings may be scheduled before high-turnout elections.
