Matching workers to jobs in Great Falls can be tricky

James Winters was interviewing applicants for several days last week. Fitting a retailer’s needs to the wants of potential workers can be tricky, says the store manager at Ace Hardware’s Northwest Bypass location.

"There are some areas that we find hard, a lot of turnover in," Winters said. "Proper knowledge is required for most areas." For departments such as plumbing, electrical and power equipment, "you do have to have knowledge in the area" and wages tend to be higher for people hired to work in those departments.

Entry-level jobs such as cashiers and stock people "we get you in on the ground floor," Winters said. "We train on everything but for plumbing and electrical, we prefer experience."
