Linx Now Offering Intercity Bus Connections Across Greater Yellowstone
Park visitors and employees can now use public transportation to access the region’s gateway towns
For the third consecutive summer, the Linx Regional Transportation Cooperative is providing affordable public transportation inside Yellowstone National Park and to and from its gateway communities. The Linx Bus in Yellowstone pilot demonstration has been expanded beyond the Park’s South Loop to include daily connections between West Yellowstone and Gardiner, Montana, and Cody and Jackson, Wyoming.
"Our members are pleased to offer Yellowstone Park visitors an affordable transportation service between West Yellowstone and Gardiner, Montana, and most ‘in park’ destinations," says Jan Brown, Linx General Manager. "Thanks to FTA grant support through the Wyoming Department of Transportation, area residents, park guests and seasonal employees may also travel to/from Cody, Jackson Hole, and the Wind River Valley (Dubois and Riverton/Lander)."
The 2013 Linx Summer Service is slated to operate until September 30th. A Linx Bus in Yellowstone day pass costs $25.00 for multiple boardings inside the national park. One-way tickets on Gateway Connection lines — from Lake Hotel to Cody or Jackson, for example — cost an additional $25.00. Tickets may be purchased online, or from ticket vendors both inside and outside Yellowstone
"It is so rewarding to be able to help those who wish to travel in Yellowstone Park using public transportation," adds Linx Sales Manager Collette Rinehart. "We have many different types of riders, including international travelers who don’t want to drive in Yellowstone and expect to ride public transportation. We also board cyclists and hikers who want to take the bus for a part of their park adventure, as well as those who have parked their RV and want to see another park destination. Park employees from all over the world are working here for the summer but don’t have a car. Linx can help all of these riders see and enjoy more of the area, plus visit all the gateway communities while they are here."
Linx is a locally-owned member cooperative of transportation providers and investors operating a regional transportation network to serve the Greater Yellowstone region. Linx is coordinating the stops and schedules of its member-providers and making this information available to the general public on one online platform at http://www.linx.coop
