A new homeowner organization on Friday filed a legal challenge against four bills passed by the Legislature to create more housing.

The group, Montanans Against Irresponsible Densification, LLC, consists of homeowners in Whitefish, Bozeman, Billings, Missoula, Great Falls, Columbia Falls and Kalispell.

The lawsuit, which names the State of Montana as the lone defendant, alleges the four bills are “top-down” measures imposed on large communities in place of local control.
