Governors weigh in on broadband expansion, infrastructure permitting, cybersecurity

Rural West Initiative launch webinar Tuesday; Govenors share FAST Act feedback
Western Governors have encouraged the Federal Communications Commission to continue innovating with the Educational Broadband Service spectrum to support rural connectivity and also shared WGA broadband policy for a House hearing. The Governors advanced other policy positions as well: support for more efficient infrastructure permitting in the FAST Act and their resolution on cybersecurity for a hearing on grid security.
Webinar launches Reimagining the Rural West Initiative

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum will share themes and policy goals for Reimagining the Rural West, his central policy effort in the coming year as WGA Chair, during a webinar at 10 a.m. MT on Tuesday (July 16). After introducing the Initiative, the Governor will moderate a panel discussion that will explore the experiences and challenges encountered in the rural West. In addition, panelists also will share a variety of ideas about how to build vibrant rural communities. Register now.

Western Governors relaunch Foundation with new mission

WGA just relaunched the Western Governors’ Foundation at its 2019 Annual Meeting in Colorado. Watch this video to learn how the reimagined foundation will leverage the influence of the Western Governors to raise and deploy resources that collectively will impact issues of regional importance.
