Thirteen public schools awarded as winners of the SMART Schools Challenge

Governor Steve Bullock and Lt. Governor Mike Cooney today recognized 13 Montana public schools as winners of the 2018-2019 SMART (Saving Money And Resources Today) Schools Challenge. Now in its 5th year, the challenge engages schools in improving energy efficiency, promoting healthy and environmentally sound practices, and reducing waste.

“Montana’s future leaders understand that they can lead the way in charting a brighter future not just in their schools, but in the world around them,” said Governor Bullock. “It is because of these students that we will preserve and pass on the quality of life we love to future Montanans.”

“I always enjoy seeing students and teachers design projects that encourage energy efficiency, conservation, waste reduction, and health promotion in our schools,” said Lt. Governor Cooney. “This is good for our energy future, as well as for Montana taxpayers.”
