* Anaconda, the county seat of Deer Lodge County, is located in mountainous southwestern Montana at an elevation of 5,335 feet. The Continental Divide passes within 35 miles of the community with local Rocky Mountain peaks reaching to 10,379 feet.

State Tax Incentives

New/ Expanded Industry Credit (15-31-124)

Eligibility: Manufacturing companies

Qualifying Expenditures: Increase total full time employment by at least 30%

Benefit: The total amount of the credit is 1% of the total wages paid to new employees. Credit is available during the firs three years following initiation or expansion of the manufacturing operation. Credit limited to the year in which it is earned.

Tax Increment Financing District (TIFD)

Industrial development projects fall under TIFD

Local government may issue bonds for a wide variety of development purposes such as; financing land acquisition, industrial infrastructure, rail spurs, buildings, and personal property related to the public improvements

* Affordable Housing. Estimated Average Cost of Home*:

* Small, two bedroom: $50,000

* Two story, three bedroom: $80,000

* New Home: $110,000 – $145,000 ($80 – $100/square foot)
