Compound discovery may calm chronic pain

A compound that dampens an enzyme that controls pain receptors could lead to a new type of pain reliever for more than 100 million people in the United States alone who suffer from chronic pain.
Researchers are hopeful they have identified a new way to treat chronic pain caused by arthritis, shingles, and nerve damage.
