Businesses Sue Montana Secretary Of State Over Duplicate License Charges

Lee Newspapers first reported in late 2020 that a technical issue resulted in 1,200 duplicate transactions of annual business filings on the Secretary of State’s website.The suit claims the office collected $120,000 in duplicate fees in fiscal year 2020.

Former Secretary of State Corey Stapleton was still in office in 2020 with Jacobsen being second-in-command.
