The American Prairie Foundation http://www.americanprairie.org is a 21st century organization that hopes to restore a sizable piece of North America to its 19th century condition. The foundation’s vision extends into the 22nd century and beyond.

Already it owns or controls 60,000 acres of unbroken, mixed-grass prairie along the Missouri River south of Malta. The figure should double in the next year, and double again in the next four.
