This week we released our third episode, “Why do we believe lies?” We’re joined by Israeli historian Yuval Noah Harari, who told us about how humanity’s ability to create myths and fictions is the very thing that has enabled us to create communities. Rashida and I are both huge fans of Yuval, and we geeked out over our mutual love of his books—especially Sapiens—the first time we met. The three of us had a lot of fun trying to figure out the truth about the truth.
I also just posted a new piece on Gates Notes about two heroes in global health who happen to be married to each other. Drs. Quarraisha and Salim Abdool Karim have been leaders in the fight against HIV/AIDS in their native South Africa—and around the world—for three decades. This year they’re also shaping the COVID-19 response in their home country and at the global level. They’re a remarkable couple.
