I normally don’t spend time going through old emails. But the other day I came across one from nearly 15 years ago and couldn’t help thinking about how much has changed since I wrote it, as well as how little has changed.
I looked up the email because I was talking to someone about the book Weather for Dummies—one of the first titles I mention when people ask me for something to read about climate change—and started wondering when I first got my copy. Sorting through old emails, I was amazed to learn it was in 2008.
On a global level, today the world is even more aware of the threat of climate change. Personally, I’m 15 years into the full-time career in philanthropy that I was just beginning when I wrote that mail. On the other hand, my taste in books has not changed very much. I still love science textbooks, along with history, biography, and occasionally some fiction.
