All In on AI, Salesforce’s Benioff Tells Other CEOs This Is the Last Time They’ll Manage Only Humans
March 4, 2025/

Marc Benioff is an AI hawk, and his company’s success with AI agents prompted an announcement that the company won’t need to hire engineering staff this year.
The San Francisco Standard reminds us that Benioff’s pronouncement on the future of AI in the workplace comes after the company slashed some 1,000 workers, and then hired around 2,000 staff to help sell Agentforce tools to clients. In this way, Salesforce’s staffing changes align with abundant data showing that AI won’t necessarily cause the wholesale loss of workers’ jobs, but instead will force changes in the kind of work people do in the office, as well as the types of skills that future staff will need to learn before they hit the workforce.
