2006 Washington State Economic And Workforce Development Conference, 9-6/7, Vancouver, Washington

These are exciting times for the Washington economy. We are adding jobs faster than the rest of the nation, Washington companies are making terrific progress in foreign markets, our manufacturing sector is growing even as manufacturing declines across the country, and family incomes are rising. At this unique moment, it is important to come together to develop strategies to address our economic future.

In Vancouver this September, for the first time, we’ll combine workforce and economic development conferences into one unified event. I’ll present a strategic vision for moving Washington forward. And throughout the day, together, we’ll address key questions to chart our future:

* How can we use our substantial public investment in infrastructure to promote the best possible economic future for Washington?

* What should we do to send a strong message to employers that we are "open for business"?

* In an increasingly global economy, will our workforce development strategies promote the skills that we need to make the best products and services in the world?

Please join us in Vancouver to develop the vision and strategies that will move Washington forward.
