The Street Project Movie and Update – 2/8 – Roxy Theater

Hey Missoula friends,
I’ve been involved in organizing a great program on the night of February 8 at our beloved Roxy Theater … and you can join in!
As you may know, thanks to local advocates and city/county officials, we’ve got a lot of great projects cooking in all parts of Missoula for safer streets, from East Missoula to Downtown to Reserve Street. This wave of safer streets is also part of a broader national movement — and we’re going to educate and celebrate that movement two weeks from today!
The event will feature a short documentary called The Street Project, which features safety advocates and campaigns in some big cities. And then we’re going to do an inspiring “lightning round” presentation on SEVEN local projects to improve our streets and trails, especially for pedestrians, cyclists, and more vulnerable road users like seniors, young kids and other less mobile folks. You’ll learn what’s up and, if you’re so inclined, who to contact for more info.
We’ve got the biggest theater at the Roxy but it’s filling up. You can reserve your seat by going to this link. The event will take place from 7:30 to 9:00 PM and there will be mingle time in the lobby and theater before and after. The Street Project is the story about humanity’s relationship to the streets and the global citizen-led fight to make communities safer. Digging deep into the root causes of traffic violence, the filmmakers interweave a diverse array of experts including street historian Peter Norton, city planner Jeff Speck, and urban design expert Mikael Colville-Andersen with the stories of real people working to make more livable streets.
