International Wildlife Film Festival (in Missoula this week! You should be here.. ) goes back to roots, evolves

In years past, topics such as wild horses, threatened trees and captive elephants might have seemed an incongruous fit to the International Wildlife Film Festival http://www.wildlifefilms.org/ .

Beginning with its inception 34 years ago, the annual festival has traditionally focused on the purest forms of wildlife filmmaking – documentaries that capture the stories of the natural world, removed (as far as possible, anyway) from human impingement.

That was then. This is now: A weeklong festival in which scientists, conservationists, artists and filmmakers gather to share films, discuss and – in one instance – sing about a world in which humankind’s impact is an important and unavoidable element of the wild world.
