City Club Missoula Presents: "Heart Attack 2011: What We Know, What We’re Still Learning" With Dr. Tod Maddux, International Heart Institute of Montana

Monday, April 11, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Holiday Inn Downtown at the Park, 200 S. Pattee St.

Heart attack is still the leading cause of death in the United States,
despite the fact that in-hospital death rates have declined from 50
percent to 5 percent since the 1960s. Dr. Tod Maddux, an interventional
cardiologist at the International Heart Institute of Montana based at St.
Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Center, will review significant
advances during the last 20 years in understanding and treating
cardiovascular disease. He will also discuss heart disease in women,
which has been recently recognized as having its own challenges in the
health care arena. Dr. Maddux will tell us what we need to do to combat
cardiovascular disease in our families and communities, how to recognize
the symptoms of heart attack, and what to do at the time of heart attacks
in ourselves and others.

Dr. Maddux is a Missoula native who is director of the Cardiac
Catheterization Lab at the Heart Institute. He has been with the Institute
for seven years.
