University of Montana law students talk economic development on Montana reservations

"Tribes that have very successful economic development programs, are more likely to have more social programs as well," said UM Law professor Maylinn Smith. "And those social programs are how you make the change."

Students discussed several different economic opportunities for the reservations throughout the week…but also, the challenges they must overcome.

"There’s a broad range of economic development issues in Indian Country."
