Missoulian Editorial: Don’t mess with State Fund’s success

The Montana State Fund is distributing the largest dividend in its history this year: $35 million. By the first week in February, some 23,000 State Fund policyholders will receive a check ranging from as little as $10 to as much as $890,581, based on policy size and loss ratio in 2013.

Montana’s legislators would do well to pay attention as the fund makes this transition, learn more about the fund and the way it works, and pledge to keep their hands off its surplus.
