Panel takes softer stand on Butte Local Development Corp.

After an hour of cordial but terse talks about economic development in Butte – or the lack of it – Chief Executive Matt Vincent and a group of commissioners seemingly softened a stand toward the Butte Local Development Corp. http://www.bldc.net/ on Wednesday.

The ad hoc committee Vincent formed this year reworded a recommendation to say the county should "cooperate" with the BLDC and "critically evaluate" its primary contract with the BLDC to provide economic development services.

The previous recommendation, which was hammered out during meetings that were not posted in advance so the public knew about them, said that $46,000 contract should be "critically reconsidered."
