Idaho National Laboratory releases open source MOOSE modeling and simulation software

For the past several years, a team of Idaho National Laboratory employees has been working on a computer simulation framework that simplifies the process for predicting the behavior of complex systems ranging from irradiation effects on materials to groundwater physics and chemistry.

About 50 people from throughout the United States are in Idaho Falls this week to spend three days learning how to use this innovative new software program. On Wednesday, the software will become open source and available for public use. The program, Multiphysics Object Oriented Simulation Environment, or MOOSE, makes it easier to create computer simulations from complex mathematical models.
