Butte Hill renewal is focus of proposed blight resolution in Uptown
July 10, 2013 /
Council on Wednesday will consider a resolution that addresses blight in Uptown Butte — as well as encourages economic development.
The move will allow for creation of a new tax increment financing district, or TIF. Money raised will go toward establishing a new Urban Renewal District that falls on the heels of the current Urban Revitalization Agency’s TIF. The latter will sunset next year.
TIFs are designed to attract new businesses to an area and improve the overall tax base while creating economic vitality.
