University of Washington iSchool 2015 Overview

The University of Washington Information School (iSchool) is committed to ongoing strategic planning that aligns our focus and activities with the needs of the information and technology professions, trends in the information field and the challenges of the new economic realities facing higher education. Building upon "Vision in Action 2007-2012," in the Autumn of 2011 the iSchool initiated a strategic planning process to further strengthen our status as a world-leading Information School. The iSchool’s 2012-2015 plan, "iSchool 2015", focuses on investments in specific areas of strategic visibility, together with targeted growth and partnership development initiatives. The plan emphasizes the iSchool’s role in preparing the leaders and innovators of the 21st century global information economy and our commitment to making the world a better place.

Through the iSchool’s strategic planning process, a series of interviews, focus groups and surveys were implemented to engage faculty, staff, students, alumni and other external stakeholders in building a vision of the iSchool in 2015 considered to be both possible and desirable. The outcomes of this visioning effort include a statement of the challenges facing the iSchool, a scenario of the iSchool in 2015 after we have engaged these challenges, and details of the work required to achieve the iSchool’s vision for 2015.
