Angel groups can be counterproductive, says Atlas VC Fred Destin

Many Boston area angel investors are too tied in with angel groups, which has prevented them from investing independently and from doing as much good as they could, Atlas Venture partner Fred Destin said during an event Tuesday night. (UPDATE: Destin followed up with a blog post on the topic Wednesday morning.)

Meanwhile, representatives of several of those angel groups responded (to me) by saying just the opposite is true.
