Missoula Cultural Council Update

(1) The Tourism Advisory Council at its meeting on Tuesday in Miles City approved the Montana Tourism & Recreation Stratetic Plan 2003-2007. Since tourism is #2 in the state economy, this plan is particularly timely. It’s available at Travel Montana’s intranet site: http://www.travelmontana.state.mt.us and a condensed version will shortly be available on CD ROM.

(2) As announced at MCC’s annual celebration of National Arts and Humanities Month last Friday, the Missoula Cultural Council is now an affiliate of the Business Committee for the Arts, a national support and advocacy group founded by David Rockefeller in 1945. We will be launching that program at a breakfast meeting on November 14 with BCA President Judith Jedlicka visits Missoula. The BCA website is at http://www.bcainc.org This affiliation makes it possible for MCC to partner with businesses to use the arts for the benefit of the local economy and their own profit.

(3) MCC will launch its four "Cultural Corridors" that have Missoula as their "gateway" city on November 14-15 at a workshop in Missoula. This project will create partnerships between communities, cultural attractions, and businesses along the four travel corridors that traverse western Montana. For information contact MCC at 721-9620 or [email protected]
