Students in Maria Taylor’s advanced textiles class are earning credits and cash now that "The Paris" Gibson Thrift Store is open.
"I’m hoping they really are learning job skills and they are leaving here with some self assurance," Taylor said.
The thrift store, located on the first floor of Paris Gibson Education Center, opened at the end of October.
It features all kinds of gently used clothing and several used goods that have been donated to the school.
Although it’s a new program, Taylor said she and school principal Mary Ann Cosgrove have been looking for other ways to get students involved in business development and learning on-the-job skills.
