Montana SBA-April 2009 Newsletter

During the first half of 2009, the Montana SBA District Office approved 159 loans totaling $26,757,260. Of the 159 loans,
155 totaling $23,846,260 were approved under SBA’s flagship 7(a) guaranteed loan program, and 4 loans totaling
$2,911,000 were made through the 504 Certified Development Company Program, a program that provides growing businesses
with long-term fixed-rate financing for major fixed assets, such as land and buildings.

New businesses accounted for
65 of the loans and totaled $11,898,560. Thirty-one loans totaling $3,794,860 were made to women owned businesses, 23
loans totaling $1,830,100 were made to veterans, and 17 loans totaling $3,821,000 went to minority owned businesses.
The most frequently financed businesses included: supermarkets and other grocery (except convenience) stores, full-service
restaurants, landscaping services, all other specialty trade contractors, general automotive repair, and offices of dentists.
