Deadline extended for Butte, Montana superintendent applications

The MDT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program encourages and supports the participation of companies owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in transportation contracts.

The Butte school board Wednesday extended the deadline for applications for a new superintendent to get a larger pool of applicants.

The board has contracted with the Montana School Boards Association to conduct the search to replace Chuck Uggetti, who is retiring at the end of the school year. It received eight applicants for the job after advertising in Montana and on education Internet sites.

But the board had hoped to get many more applicants, said Patti Hepola, chairwoman.
