Great Falls Development Authority doles out last of loan funds

America’s economic slump is taking its toll in the heartland, Brett Doney told the Great Falls City Commission on Tuesday night.

Doney, president of the Great Falls Development Authority http://www.gfdevelopment.org/ , said the GFDA recently committed the last of its economic development loan funds.

As a result, "we turned down a loan for an expansion of a downtown business that would have created seven jobs," Doney said.

He said the national credit crunch may mean banks will finance smaller percentages of projects than they once did, making the authority’s loans even more important.
