The Montana Council on Economic Education is offering scholarships to Montana teachers interested in attending a summer workshop set June 19-21 at Montana State University.

"Economics 500-Applied Economic Education," is a workshop that will enhance the skills of teachers of social studies, business, mathematics, consumer and family science and other teaching disciplines. It may be taken for one graduate credit.

The workshop includes instruction on key issues impacting Montana’s economy, from school funding and performance to Montana taxes and spending. It also will include standard economic issues such as scarcity, incentives and opportunity costs.

Teachers also can train on the High School Business Challenge and the Stock Market Game simulations, both programs in Montana schools.

Attendees will be among the first to review the recently completed Economic Learning Modules that soon will be available to high schools throughout Montana. ELMs are turnkey lesson plans addressing the economics standards for high school education used as stand-alone lesson plans or taught as a whole.

Full scholarships are available that provide housing, meals, materials and the full cost of one graduate credit for workshop participants.

For more information, or to apply, go to http://www.econedmontana.org or contact the MCEE at (406) 994-5618 or e-mail [email protected].
