Rich Semenik, dean of Montana State University College of Business http://www.montana.edu/cob/ , was one of 19 national leaders selected by the Small Business Administration to present college or business entrepreneurial practices demonstrating market-based results.

"Putting it Together: The Role of Entrepreneurship in Economic Development" was the theme of the SBA’s one-day national conference in Washington, D.C. that explored "best practices" of state leaders and recognized the role entrepreneurship and market-based solutions play in state, regional, and local economic development.

Semenik spoke on "Rural Entrepreneurship and Economic Development," which highlighted the MSU College of Business’ Center for Entrepreneurship for the New West and the Alderson Program for Entrepreneurship. He demonstrated how MSU business students interact with scientists and technology entrepreneurs, gain hands-on experience and establish viable new ventures that generate jobs for the community through the college’s partnership with TechRanch http://techranch.org .

The participants were eligible to win one of four national "best practices" awards for their business or college.
