Sen. Conrad Burns of Montana receives award from national manufacturing industry

A 100 percent voting score from the National Association (NAM) of Manufacturers was enough to earn Sen. Conrad Burns, R-Mont., the industry group’s award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence.

In a brief grip-and-grin ceremony at Summit Aeronautics Thursday, Steve Knight, general manager of Columbia Falls Aluminum Company and a NAM board member, said Burns took the right position on all important manufacturing issues.

"Some people in Washington don’t understand how important manufacturing is to the U.S. economy and to our quality of life," Knight said. "Senator Burns does understand these issues, and his voting record since 1988 demonstrates that."
