Montana Legislative Committee Invites Comments on Renewable Energy Report

The Montana Environmental Quality Council (EQC) has invited public comments on a new report titled Hydrogen, Wind, Biodiesel, and Ethanol…Alternative Energy Sources to Fuel Montana’s Future? The purpose of this report is "to provide information on selected alternative energy sources so that citizens and legislators can make informed decisions on how these alternative energy sources should or should not fit into Montana’s energy picture." Comments will be accepted until June 30, 2004.

The EQC is a state legislative committee created by the 1971 Montana Environmental Policy Act. The purpose of the EQC is "to encourage conditions under which people can coexist with nature in ‘productive harmony.’" http://www.leg.state.mt.us/content/publications/lepo/2004draft_energy_report.pdf

The Council fulfills this purpose by assisting the Montana Legislature in the development of natural resource and environmental policy, by conducting studies on related issues, and by serving in an advisory capacity to the state’s natural resource programs.
