$190 Million in Loans Available for Rural Broadband Access

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on May 4th that $190 million in loans will be available to 19 states through the Rural Broadband Access Program for rural broadband and telecommunications projects.

This program will provide both loans and loan guarantees to support better Internet access for farmers and ranchers, thus enhancing rural economies by allowing their businesses to compete globally. $150 million for the program is coming from the 2002 Farm Bill, while the remaining $40 million will come through the Dept. of Agriculture’s Rural Development Agency.
