Montana University system signals support for independent Bitterroot College

A proposal to create an independent community college in Ravalli County still has some major hoops to jump through, but last week the Montana University System said it will support the idea if it passes muster in a May election.

“The Montana University System, through the University of Montana, is committed to continuing to provide the Bitterroot Valley with quality education,” said Karen Ogden, spokeswoman for Montana’s Office of the Commissioner of High Education. “We want to honor the community’s wishes and will proceed in accordance with the outcome of the May 5 election.”
