General Motors Cuts Funding to Cruise, Nixing Its Robotaxi Plan

The automaker has sunk billions into making a self-driving car service work. Now it says it will focus on “personal” autonomous vehicles instead.

    If a privately owned car sits unused for many many hours every day, why should someone own an autonomous car? Privately owned cars will become the exception as people realize how expensive it is to own a car which is contrary to GM’s goal of selling cars. Cruise won’t survive because of management errors but others will and subscription models will become much more popular.
