U.S.-grown hemp fiber is entering Vietnam’s textile supply chain through a new partnership.

IND HEMP, Summit International Trading, and Thien Phuoc Ramie Group signed a memorandum of understanding on April 7, 2026, to integrate American hemp fiber into Vietnam’s textile manufacturing. This development reflects a structural shift as Vietnam, which overtook China as the largest U.S. textile exporter in 2025, moves to incorporate more sustainable natural fibers.

Summit International imported the first containers of raw U.S. hemp fiber into Vietnam in December 2025. Thien Phuoc processed this fiber into yarns and fabrics, which will be showcased at the Functional Fabric Fair in Portland, Oregon, April 7-9, 2026. IND HEMP CEO Morgan Tweet emphasized Summit International’s expertise in managing international textile supply chains, while Thanh Hu praised Montana-grown hemp for its quality and consistency. The partnership benefits from support by multiple agricultural and trade organizations including Montana’s Department of Agriculture and Department of Commerce.

IND HEMP plans to exhibit at the INDEX European Nonwovens show in May 2026 and the Alimentec South American Food Show in June 2026, continuing to expand export relationships.

This arrangement could hold significance for Montana businesses seeking new markets for industrial hemp. Given Montana’s agricultural profile and the state’s involvement through its Department of Agriculture and Commerce programs, the emerging U.S.-Vietnam supply chain might offer local producers a foothold in a growing global textile market focused on sustainability and scale.
