A practical look at federal funding that doesn’t cost you equity. – 10/28 – Missoula

22 seats. 90 minutes. A practical look at federal funding that doesn’t cost you equity. University of Montana this is a great opportunity!
On Wednesday, October 28, the Montana Technology Innovation Partnership powered by MSU TechLink Center, is hosting Navigating SBIR: From Idea to Impact at MonTEC in Missoula.
📅 Wednesday, October 28
⏰ 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. workshop
🥂 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. happy hour and networking
📍 MonTEC, 1121 E. Broadway Street, Missoula
The federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs can provide significant non-dilutive funding to develop technology and move it toward commercialization. If you’re a researcher, founder or part of a team moving an idea toward the market, they’re worth understanding.
The workshop is interactive and in person, and it sticks to the practical side: how to identify opportunities, what federal agencies are looking for, how proposals are evaluated, what goes into a competitive application and why the right collaborators matter. There will also be examples of companies that have used SBIR/STTR funding, connections to Montana resources and partners, and plenty of time for questions.
Then stick around. MTIP and MonTEC are hosting a happy hour with tech founders and what I’m told will be some very serious hors d’oeuvres.
One thing I keep appreciating about Montana’s innovation community is how many people are willing to help researchers and entrepreneurs figure out the next step. If you have an idea with commercial potential and aren’t sure how to fund it, this is a good place to start.
Registration link is in the first comment.
With only 22 spots, I’d sign up early.
