City Club Missoula – Gov. Brian Schweitzer discusses 2009 Montana Legislature

Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer says the just completed legislative session is one to remember.

He made that observation while speaking to City Club Missoula http://www.cityclubmissoula.org on Monday and talked about what he thought was good, bad and surprising.

This City Club Missoula Program will be broadcast (Bresnan Cable Channel 11) beginning this Sunday, May 17 @ 5pm, repeating Monday, May 18 @ 8am

This program will air each Sunday and Monday until the next City Club meeting.

"Now, remember we had a horse bill and a dog bill everybody excited about everybody had an opinion on…(they were mad on both sides (of th issue), but then there was actually a bill to abolish the death penalty for humans."

Schweitzer lauds spirit of compromise in 2009 session

Gov. Brian Schweitzer gave the 2009 Legislature a grade of B in a speech to Missoula’s City Club on Monday.

With a handful of Democratic legislators also on hand – they, too, generally gave the session a B – Schweitzer was in cozy confines ripe for offering up a few partisan barbs.

“Some things that abundantly make sense didn’t pass,” the governor said.
