Candidates for governor lay out differing priorities for public education

Bear Paw Development Corporation is a private non-profit organization created for the purpose of administering programs to help improve regional economic conditions in Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau and Phillips Counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy's Indian Reservations.

Gov. Steve Bullock and his Republican challenger Greg Gianforte are both campaigning on promises to improve the state’s public schools, but their visions of what needs to change and how to make it happen differ greatly.

"It’ll be in line with what he has done over the last three and a half years, which has been to ensure that all students have access to a great public education wherever they are in the state," Bullock’s education adviser Siri Smillie said. "Ensuring that students are prepared for college or career starts before students enter kindergarten, with preschool."
