Jim Smitham – longtime director of Butte Local Development Corp. retiring – Search is on for new director

The longtime executive director of the Butte Local Development Corp. will retire this summer or early fall, ending a 13-year tenure with the county’s lead economic development entity.

"It hasn’t been all fun and games, and there have been some tough times," Jim Smitham, 64, told The Montana Standard on Monday.

But he said the organization and its board have done good work and Butte has reason to be optimistic.
