"Funding for Montana economic development programs at stake in Legislature" – K.C. Walsh, Simms Fishing Products in Bozeman

A dream can be a powerful thing. I grew up obsessed with two things: fishing and Montana. My dream was to live, work and play in Montana and to have all of that revolve in some way around fishing.

That dream came true in 1993 when I purchased Simms Fishing Products http://www.simmsfishing.com/ and relocated the company from Jackson, Wyoming, to Bozeman. The company continues to be based on an unwavering commitment to U.S.-based manufacturing and business ideals, trusting that in doing so we would not only grow as a business but also help grow the community we had chosen as our home.

As a Montana business owner, a manufacturer, a community member and a strong supporter of Montana’s economic development efforts, I think it is essential that they pass this funding. These programs are economic development tools used by those working to build Montana’s economy in conjunction with the private sector, and each has proven time and time again that these are smart investments in Montana’s future growth.

In doing so, we will be able to make other business’ dreams come true.

K.C. Walsh is the owner of Simms Fishing in Bozeman and serves as co-chair of Gov. Bullock’s Manufacturing Key Industry Network. http://mainstreetmontanaproject.com/
