Montana Economic Developers Association Annual Conference Hears Candidates for Governor

Five Republican candidates for governor called Tuesday for eliminating or reducing some state taxes to spur economic development in Montana.

All of them advocated taking various steps to increase natural resource developments in Montana and using those tax proceeds to replace or reduce certain existing taxes.

The two Democrats speaking at the event, Attorney General Steve Bullock of Helena and state Sen. Larry Jent of Bozeman, both supported more development of natural resources, but neither suggested cutting taxes.

Each candidate had 20 minutes to answer three questions and field questions from the audience at the event, sponsored by the Montana Economic Developers Association http://www.medamembers.org .
