Officials work to bring energy complex to MonDak region

There may be an energy complex coming soon to the MonDak region, Sidney Mayor Bret Smelser said during a Mon-Dak Energy Alliance public meeting Thursday. Representatives from various energy entities in Montana and North Dakota discussed current and potential energy projects at the meeting.

Addressing a packed meeting room at the Airport International Inn in Williston, N.D., Smelser said the alliance, which is a “consortium” of people with common interests in developing energy within the region, is working to diversify and enhance the oil and gas industry in the Williston Basin. The energy complex would include an oil refinery, an ethanol plant, bio-diesel plant, wind farm and a coal to liquids conversion facility.
