Revitalizing Hobson, Montana’s Main Street

The traffic on Main Street here is easy to characterize — sparse.

But just because the cars aren’t bumper to bumper, don’t get the impression that this tiny town, population 265, is down and out. Hobson, particularly Main Street, is booming by small-town standards.

In the last year, Hobson has seen portions of its four-block Main Street spring to life. There’s a new library, a veterinary office, and plans for a business expansion and a museum. The modest fire station has even recently doubled in size.

"I’m seeing some real enthusiasm," said Hobson Mayor Dale Longfellow. "There are a lot of people trying to do something."
