Nevada "Specialized Aviation" company eyeing a new location

Local economic development officials are looking to the sky as a potential new source of jobs in Great Falls.

A group of local leaders, including Mayor Randy Gray, John Kramer and Jerry Chavez of the Great Falls Development Authority and airport director Cynthia Schultz recently traveled to Nevada to visit with what is being described as a "specialized aviation" company eyeing a new location.

The company, which does pilot training and provides other services, would be located at the Great Falls International Airport, if it lands here.

Kramer is being tight-lipped about details, noting that several other communities in Montana and elsewhere are hoping to snag the company.

The number of jobs at stake is unclear.

"It could be five or 50," Kramer said. "But its potential for growth is skyrocketing."

Local officials are hoping for a decision by the end of November.
