DESCRIPTION:BOZEMAN — Montana State University will host a free\, public lecture focused on school funding in rural states on Monday\, Sept. 28\, on the MSU campus.\n\n\n\n\nThe Dr. John W. Kohl Distinguished Educational Leadership Lecture will be held in Inspiration Hall inside Norm Asbjornson Hall\, with an online streaming option available. The program includes refreshments and mingling from 5:30 to 5:50 p.m. and presentations from 5:50 to 7 p.m. Parking is available in the parking garage adjacent to Norm Asbjornson Hall.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLecture speakers are rural education experts Melissa Sadorf\, executive director of the National Rural Education Association\, and Jerry Johnson\, Phoebe Moore Dail Distinguished Professor in Rural Education and director of the Rural Education Institute at East Carolina University.\nThe event is sponsored by MSU’s College of Education\, Health and Human Development. It honors the life and legacy of John W. Kohl\, dean emeritus of the college\, whose work focused on educator preparation at the teacher and school-leader levels in Montana and nationwide.\n\nRSVPs are requested at http://www.montana.edu/calendar/events/58152. MEIC is dedicated to protecting and restoring Montana’s land\, air\, water\,and climate and defending the public’s right to know and participate. MEIC works to protect Montanans’ right to a clean and healthful environment through advocacy\,education\, legislation\, litigation and the empowerment of the public. Anne primarily works on energy policy\, affordability\,air quality and climate change\, with an emphasis on the threats posed by data centers and the mechanism to address those threats. She received her B.S. in environmental policy analysis and planning from the University of California at Davis and a Master of Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School. She resides in Helena.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nColtran Hophan-Nichols\nColtran Hophan-Nichols serves as Director of Systems and Research Computing at Montana State University in Bozeman\, MT where he oversees computational\, artificial intelligence\, and data systems management. With a background in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering\, he brings over 10 years of experience in Information Technology with a focus on computational and data center systems. Coltran teaches classes on High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRobert Morris \nRobert Morris holds the Lance Energy Chair at Montana Technological University\, where his work focuses on energy policy\, utility regulation\, and emerging infrastructure issues including data centers\, nuclear energy\, and critical minerals. He brings 40 years of experience in electric power systems to his role\, and currently serves as Generation Work Group Chair on the Montana Governor’s Energy Task Force.
